About Climatico

Climatico was founded in 2008 to report and analyse the latest developments in climate change policy around the world.

The work of Climatico rests on its understanding of climate policy action around the world and specifically in key countries in the climate change debate. The group is organised around analysis of the Group of Twenty Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors (G-20) countries (Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the European Union). Climatico analysts assess governmental action to address all aspects of climate change, including the rationale and drivers around action. The group aims to produce the highest quality independent analysis of national-level climate policy.

In addition, Climatico also has a focus on the most important international climate policy forums and venues (G8, UNFCCC, G-20, WB). Taking a more thematic approach, Climatico’s International Team monitors international climate policy trends and developments and assesses which areas of climate policy are moving forward and why. The International Team also makes an assessment on the success and wider role of multilateral negotiating forums on climate change.

Climatico’s research and analysis at both national and international levels takes the form of short issue briefs aimed at summarizing key developments, and more up-to-date analysis on our daily blog.

Many of the Climatico team members were previously members of the G8 Research Group Oxford/LSE, an affiliate of the G8 Research Group based at the University of Toronto.
